This technique goes hand-in-hand with my article on Amazon Subscribe & Save.
When you purchase something at Amazon.com, Amazon will often give you an offer to get an Amazon Rewards Visa Credit Card when you pass through the electronic checkout. To someone who shops at Amazon frequently, this card offers some great benefits.
- Signing up for the Amazon.com Visa Credit Card generally yields you a $30-50 Amazon.com gift card if you get approved. That’s free money. Be sure to click the offer banner on the Amazon site (usually during checkout) because the gift card offer is usually higher than what you may find on Google.
- All purchases made at Amazon.com using your Amazon Visa Credit Card yields a 3% return in the form of Amazon.com credit. This is the equivalent of making your money go 3% further when you use it at Amazon.com. And per my article on Amazon.com Subscribe & Save, that is something you should be doing regularly.
- Other purchases you make such as at restaurants and gasoline will yield you 2% Amazon credit. Everything else yields you 1% Amazon credit.
- There’s really no downside. With no annual fee and no finance charges (if you pay it off every month), you’re just getting free money and building your credit history at the same time.
I have an Amazon Rewards Visa Credit Card and it is the only card I ever intend to use when shopping at Amazon.com. Otherwise, I’m throwing money away.
