Chutes and Ladders

Today was an important day for my baby niece. She finally climbed a ladder for the first time on her own. Also, she declared the slides something like “too big” when she arrived at the new playground, but by the end of the evening she was sliding down them on her own, proudly. I stood behind her as she mastered going up the ladder fifteen times without me assisting. She was so happy and wanted everyone to see her climb and slide over and over. It was a tremendous day for her self-esteem.

Also I observed that my oldest nephew and youngest niece were not bothered by the dark when the lights were turned out. They continued to play on the playground in darkness without a care in the world. My niece especially had no interest in going home, only to keep on climbing and sliding as long as she could. It was her new skill after all.
