How I Cache YouTube for Offline Phone Viewing

I cache YouTube videos on my iPhone for offline viewing, without ads, without data, and I can lock my phone during playback, for free. It’s a workaround that works exactly how I want it to. Maybe you will like it as well.

Here’s my workaround:

  1. I put MEGA on my phone and PC. It is similar to Dropbox but with different features.
  2. I use Firefox to browse YouTube on my PC.
  3. I use FireFox Addon Easy YouTube Downloader to download any videos I want to watch.
  4. I save videos to a “Watch and Delete” folder I created in my MEGA drive.
  5. On my phone, in the MEGA app, on wifi, I can download the entire folder in two taps, caching them for offline use.

This allows me to get an extra 1.6 hours of YouTube studying done while I’m on the move each day, without draining my battery. The only downside is videos do not automatically get marked as watched, but it is possible to skip to the end of the video while it is being downloaded to achieve this.
