I’ve spent several hours trying to diagnose why only some of my music, streamed to my Xbox 360 via TVersity, sounds something like The 99 Most Essential Classical Pieces For Shattering Your Priceless Crystalline Goblet Collection and Key Human Sense Organs.
Despite thorough examination of every measurable detail (codec, bit rate, meta data, file size, track length, etcetera), the most noteworthy (but useless) clue is that mp3s from my classical music collection are more likely but not guaranteed to have the problem.
Rather than waste any further time on this obvious Baroque conspiracy, I used the following solution and/or workaround to solve the shrill high-pitched screeching sound:
In the Library section of the TVersity program, enter the Advanced properties of the Folder you’ve designated for holding Music and set Transcoding to Always.
I assume that any transcoding that occurs is only going to increase the bit rate, so you shouldn’t lose any audio quality streaming to the Xbox 360 (my situation). It sounds great and the problem has been fixed immediately.
P.S. Upon glance at the forums, it may be possible to edit TVersity settings via XML to force certain file types, such as mp3, to always transcode regardless of the organizational structure of your Library.
