I’m suspicious of therapists that want to do mindfulness exercises. It depends on one’s goals. But I see it as an extremely tempting repetitious low-hanging-fruit exercise for amateurs to introduce into sessions. It’s a good way to eat up session time by way of silence or reading from a script. I’m not saying they are nefarious; I just think people inherently desire to conserve energy and you have to keep them on their toes or they’ll take the path of least resistance at your expense.
Trust your gut and your conscience.
