Solved: Grok: You need access. This is a private conversation link.

Error

Browser tab:
Grok:
You need access
This is a private conversation link. Please request access from the person who sent you this to view the conversation.

Symptoms

  • A conversation that you own is now considered private and Grok says you need to request access.
  • You request access, and receive an email to grant access. But granting access doesn’t work.

Solution

  1. Sign out of Grok
  2. Sign back in again
  3. Refresh the browser tab containing the conversation

I theorize something in your token data is corrupted and signing out and back in again will fix permissions and let you see the conversation that is yours. This worked for me. If that doesn’t fix it, you’ll need to report a bug.

Did this article help you out?  I'm a tech writer and I do this in my free time. The way I make money is when attractive people like you support me by buying me a beer, or by choosing to keep your data safe with a competitively priced off-site backup solution that I personally use. You can also sign up for Robinhood and Webull and we both get free stocks. (My friend won $168 in JPMorgon stock when I invited her.) Deposit $100 and you typically get more free stock. Want more? Head over to my About Page and try out one of the many links I've listed there.
